FERC issues Sabine Pass expansion project EA

U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission released the environmental assessment for Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG proposed expansion project in Cameron Parish.

A request to expand the existing facilities by siting, constructing, and operating additional liquefied natural gas export facilities at the existing Sabine Pass LNG terminal was filed with FERC in late September, 2013.

The stage 3 would see an addition of two new LNG liquefaction trains and increase the terminal’s capability to liquefy natural gas for export by 503 billion cubic feet per year. Cheniere also plans to expand the pipeline capacity by an additional 1.5 bcf per day under the CCTPL expansion project.

In its EA, FERC noted that the approval of the proposed projects, with appropriate mitigating measures, would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment.
