FERC sets date for EIS issuance on Trunkline’s liquefaction project

The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Comission issued a notice of schedule for environmental review of Trunkline Gas Company’s liquefaction project at Lake Charles.

Trunkline filed an application with FERC on March 25, 2014, requesting permission to construct, install and operate certain natural gas pipeline and compression facilities, remediate certain existing pipeline facilities, modify certain compressor and meter stations and abandon one compressor unit.

According to the FERC notice, Trunkline requested authorization to site, construct and operate new liquefaction facilities adjacent to its existing LNG terminal in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana and construct and operate certain facility modification at the terminal.

The proposed Lake Charles liquefaction project would increase the capacity of the existing pipeline system to deliver the required volume of natural gas to the proposed liquefaction facility, provide bi-directional flow of gas along portions of Trunkline Gas’ system, increase access to new natural gas supplies, and add liquefaction capabilities to export up to 16.45 million metric tons per year of LNG from the terminal, stands in the notice.

FERC set the issuance date of the notice of availability of the final EIS to August 14, 2015 with the 90-day Federal authorization decision deadline set for November 12, 2015.
