Fincantieri Stretching First Ever Ultra-Luxury Cruise Ship

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has launched lengthening works on Silver Spirit, an ultra-luxury cruise ship of the Silversea Group, at its shipyard in Palermo.

In line with the project, the first of the kind on an ultra-luxury cruise ship, the shipbuilder will insert a 15-meter section in the central part of the ship.

As disclosed earlier, the prebuilt 49-foot-long midsection houses 6 silver suites, 26 veranda suites and 2 panorama suites. Technical upgrades will also be implemented, according to the shipbuilder.

Christian Sauleau, Executive Vice President of Fleet Operations for Silversea Cruises, expects that the comprehensive makeover of Silver Spirit will enrich the onboard experience.

The complex lengthening project is expected to be completed by the beginning of May.

According to Fincantieri, the renewal project took inspiration from the flagship of the fleet, Silver Muse, delivered by Fincantieri last year in April.

Silver Spirit, delivered in 2009 by Fincantieri in Ancona with a gross tonnage of 36,000 tons and a length of 195 meters, was able to accommodate over 540 passengers in 270 sea view suites, spread over 8 passenger decks.
