Fire Onboard MV Hansa Brandenburg Under Control

Fire Onboard MV Hansa Brandenburg Under Control

Ship management company Leonhardt & Blumberg reported that salvage experts of Five Oceans Salvage LTD & SMIT Salvage BV have boarded her container vessel MV “HANSA BRANDENBURG” and have been able to successfully control the fire onboard the ship.

Firefighting experts have initially focused on the worst affected area in one of the ship’s container cargo holds and are currently in the process of fully inspecting other areas of the vessel. A first assessment shows that the above mentioned cargo hold and forepart of the accommodation block have suffered most damage as a result of the fire.

No oil pollution has occurred as a result of the incident. Salvors have meanwhile done a first survey for a towing connection to the vessel.

“HANSA BRANDENBURG” suffered from a fire when transiting from Singapore to Durban on July 15. All crew of the vessel were safely rescued by the attending container vessel “DONAU TRADER” and are unharmed.
