Fisher Offshore and Load Systems UK Pioneer Wireless Monitoring Technology

Fisher Offshore and Load Systems UK have joined forces to deliver innovative wireless monitoring products and technology to the offshore winch and crane industry – a first for the UK and Europe.

This technology is market leading for the oil and gas industry, providing significant benefits to Fisher Offshore’s clients, including increased flexibility and control when involved in lifting operations. Where traditional cable based systems can often be restrictive and susceptible to damage, the new wireless products provide information from multiple positions and data logging functions.

Several international subsea energy leaders have already signed up for the new technology, to be used on substantial projects in the North Sea. Gaining these opportunities so early in the partnership provides both companies with the confidence that the market is already recognising the added benefits which these systems bring to critical path scopes of work.

Jack Davidson, operations manager at Fisher Offshore, commented: “This is a significant partnership which has been formed as a result of Load Systems UK’s expertise aligning well with our own constant desire to deliver cutting-edge technology to the market place.

“Traditional cable based systems can be restrictive and are susceptible to accidental damage, ultimately resulting in loss of displays which can jeopardise multi-million pound work scopes. We believe this innovation will remove these potential risks immediately and further increase operational seasons offshore.”

The wireless products use a unique two-way spread spectrum radio frequency which has an operating range of 1,300 metres and a two year battery life. This provides the flexibility to have multiple systems in operation simultaneously, and also the option to have a single base station, whilst achieving ultimate control during complex scopes.

Kirk Anderson, managing director at Load Systems UK, a subsidiary of Load Systems International, added: “Our products and technology have a strong reputation in international markets where they have been in use for over 15 years. It is exciting to see this technology becoming more prevalent in the UK and European sectors, and specifically in challenging oil and gas environments.

“Wireless technology is very much focused upon the user’s demands, ensuring that all safety critical information can be captured whilst providing maximum flexibility and ease of operation, often in challenging conditions in the harshest of environments. This is where LSUK excels and has a commitment to fulfil clients’ needs. I look forward to a fruitful partnership with Fisher Offshore which will deliver great results for both our clients and end users.”
