Five Workes Injured in Fire Outbreak on Petronas Offshore Platform (Malaysia)

Malaysian media have reported that five Petronas’ offshore workers have been injured in an explosion that occurred yesterday morning on a platform located offshore Sarawak, Malaysia.

The fire broke out yesterday at 9:20 (local time) on Petronas Tukau B drilling platform and spread very quickly, one of the workers said to the New Straits Times. 16 workers were on the platform at the time of the fire outbreak.

The five injured workers were immediately evacuated by a helicopter and the remaining 11 were transfered to the nearby Tukau A living quarters, the New Straits Times reveals.

All the the burn victims have been hospitalised in Miri Hospital. Datuk Sebastian Ting, Political Secretary to Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, told reporters that all the injured wokers were in stable condition and undergoing treatment at the hospital, the Borneo Post reports.
