Fortune Magazine Recognises Husky Energy as One of the World’s Most Admired Companies (Canada)

Husky Energy has been named one of the World’s Most Admired Companies in the mining and crude oil production industry segment in an annual ranking published by Fortune Magazine.

Husky was ranked No. 8 overall in its industry, receiving high marks in such categories as Social Responsibility, Quality of Management, Use of Corporate Assets, and Financial Soundness. Husky moved up the list from 2010 when it was ranked 14th overall, and was one of only two Canadian oil and natural gas producers to crack the industry’s top ten.

The magazine’s annual ranking of the World’s Most Admired Companies is produced in association with the Hay Group, a global management and consulting firm. The ranking is chosen based on surveys of approximately 15,000 senior executives, outside directors, and industry analysts, who are asked to evaluate companies on nine attributes:

1. Ability to attract and retain talented people

2. Quality of management

3. Social responsibility to the community and the environment

4. Innovativeness

5. Quality of products or services

6. Wise use of corporate assets

7. Financial soundness

8. Long-term investment value

9. Effectiveness in doing business globally

In announcing the results of the survey, Hay Group Vice President Jeff Shiraki, stressed the importance of strong leadership and employee innovation during times of economic disruption.

“Amid economic and organization changes, the World’s Most Admired Companies have created an edge over their peer companies by leveraging the resources and opportunities they have at all levels, not just in the C-Suite,” he said in a statement. “These companies are committed to continuous improvement and innovation, even in areas of strength, and are enlisting the creativity of their employees to help stay competitive.”
