Four contractors win six jack-up rig deals with India’s ONGC

Indian oil company ONGC has hired six jack-up rigs from four different offshore contractors.

According to data from Bassoe Analytics, the Indian company last week signed contracts with Jindal Drilling for two jack-up rigs Jindal Star and Discovery I.

Indian drilling contractor Aban Offshore also scored two rig deals for its Aban IV and Aban III jack-up rigs.

Both Jindal and Aban have issued statements confirming deals with ONGC. Jindal issued a statement in which it said it had won a deal with ONGC with a “value over $57 million
(approx. Rs. 407 crores).”

Offshore contractor Greatship secured work Greatdrill Chitra jack-up, and Shelf Drilling, as we reported last week, secured work for Ron Tappmeyer jack-up.

Per Bassoe Data, all the rigs have been hired on three-year contracts.

Apart from Shelf Drilling’s Ron Tappmeyer rig, which has reportedly secured a dayrate of $27,000, all other rigs have been signed up for a dayrate of $26,000.
