France: Alu Marine Presents New Range of Innovative Pilot Boats

Alu Marine Presents New Range of Innovative Pilot Boats

Alu Marine Shipyard has unveiled a new range of innovative pilot boats. The first model of the range is a 12-metre fast launch designed for pilots on the river Seine in France, which entered into service in April 2012. Its mission is to embark the Baie de Seine pilots on board merchant ships sailing upstream to Rouen.

Developed in collaboration with the Geronimo Naval Design office and Volvo Penta, the specifications of this boat have been carefully studied to optimise performance and reliability, while minimising running costs, especially fuel consumption.

Fitted with a last-generation Volvo IPS Pod propulsion system, this revolutionary craft is not only extremely robust, but very economical to run and maintain. Both light and powerful, the Alu Marine 1200 is capable of rapid turnarounds at a service speed of 30 knots.

In partnership with Volvo Penta and Geronimo Naval Design, the Alu Marine shipyard is pleased to announce a new range of five powerful pilot boats from 12 to 18 metres adapted to the requirements and sailing conditions of the Pilots.
