French Vessel Joins Search for EgyptAir Flight MS804

French naval vessel departed from Porto Vecchio on Tuesday to join the search for the missing EgyptAir flight MS804 in the Mediterranean Sea.

According to France’s accident investigation agency BEA, the Laplace vessel, equipped with detection equipment, will search for the plane’s black box recorders.

Earlier in the week, Egypt sent a submarine to look for the recorders.

The recent reports stated that the signal from emergency locator transmitter has been detected, which helped to narrow the search area to a five-kilometer radius.

The data from the black box recorders, which emit signals only for 30 days, could shed more light on the cause of the plane’s crash.

EgyptAir flight MS804, en route from Paris to Cairo with 66 people onboard, perished from radar on May 19, after entering Cairo airspace.

On May 20, the search experts found debris from the plane around 295 kilometers from the Egyptian coastline.
