Fugro bags Hess award in Australia

Fugro has been awarded a combined geophysical and geotechnical project by Hess to assist in the company’s activities in the Northern Carnarvon Basin, offshore NW Australia.

Fugro’s work will include seabed and shallow geological investigations including in areas of difficult terrain.

For the first phase of the survey, Fugro says it will utilise one of its Hugin 1000 AUVs (autonomous underwater vehicles) to map the seabed.

According to the geotechnical company, the data will be used to optimise planning for the subsequent sediment sampling phase where a variety of techniques will be used.

Fugro’s geoconsultancy team will also deliver an integrated data model for input to Hess’ ongoing analysis, the company added.

The project is planned to take place in the first quarter of 2016.
