Fugro Begins Saint-Brieuc Bay OWF Geotechnical Campaign

Ailes Marines has hired Fugro to undertake a complete geotechnical campaign at the Saint-Brieuc Bay wind power project, located off the Brittany coast, France.

The project follows the conclusions of the unexploded ordnance (UXO) campaign by Fugro.

According to Ailes Marines email statement, the geotechnical campaign is being carried out by three vessels Gargano, Fugro Synergy, and Glomar Vantage.

The work covers all 62 wind turbines positions, as well as the location of the electrical substation.

The campaign, which began in mid-June, will run for several months with a planned end in September 2017, the company said.

The construction of the 496 megawatt offshore wind farm in the bay of St. Brieuc is expected to start in 2018 and the wind farm is scheduled to be operational in 2020.
