GAIL seeking 17 cargoes of LNG

GAIL of India has reportedly launched two tenders for the supply of 17 cargoes of liquefied natural gas in total.

The company’s first tender is for five cargoes to be delivered from October to December to the Dabhol LNG terminal, sources revealed to Reuters.

In its second tender, GAIL is looking for one delivery each month through 2016 which will be delivered either to Petronet LNG’s Dahej terminal or the 5 mtpa Dabhol terminal in Maharashtra.

Deadline for bids submission is set for August 26.

The company has already purchased two cargoes for delivery in September from BP and BG Group as India’s demand for gas is expected to rise due to the recent approval by the government to use the imported gas for energy and fertilizer production.
