Gallery: Seven Seas Explorer Hits the Water

Seven Seas Explorer, an ultra-luxury cruise ship being built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, has been launched today at the yard’s Sestri Ponente facility.

The ship will now undergo the fitting-out stage before it is delivered to its owner in the summer of 2016.

The ceremony was attended by Robin Lindsay, Executive Vice President of Vessel Operations of the cruise line company, and  Fincantieri’s, Raffaele Davassi, head of Sestri Ponente shipyard. Godmother of the ship was Antonia Ronchi, an employee of Fincantieri.

With its 56,000 gross tons, Seven Seas Explorer will be the flagship of the fleet. The all-suite, all-balcony ship has a length of 223 meters and can accommodate 750 passengers on board in 377 suites. It has been described by Regent Seven Seas Cruises as the most luxurious cruise ship in the world.

The new ship will be built using the most advanced technologies in terms of environmental protection.
