Gastech to Debut Gas Asia Summit at SIEW 2012

The organisers of Gastech and the Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore announced that the launch of the executive-level Gas Asia Summit Conference & Networking (GAS) will take place on 24-25 October 2012 at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore.

The event is a regional extension of the long-running Gastech Conference & Exhibition, and will be the first dedicated Asian LNG & natural gas conference within the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) to address the security and supply of gas. The event also looks to develop the region’s gas infrastructure and projects.

The key themes of the two-day conference at GAS will focus around “The Role of Natural Gas & LNG in the Future South-East Asian Energy Mix”. Sessions at the summit include:
• Development & Financing of Asian Gas Infrastructure & Projects
• Securing Reliable, Long-Term Supplies of Gas & LNG to the Region
• Impact of North American LNG Exports on Local Markets
• Potential Developments in LNG as a Transport Fuel
• The Role for Gas as part of the Future Energy Mix

In addition to key discussions around fuelling the demand for gas in Asia and regulatory issues affecting foreign exports, GAS also aims to facilitate relations between international producers, financiers, regional governments and stakeholders in order to develop Asia’s LNG and natural gas industry through infrastructure development, project finance and delivery.

The 5th Annual SIEW 2012 is the foremost platform for policymakers, energy practitioners and commentators to discuss energy issues, strategies and solutions.  For 2012, the EMA has incorporated GAS as part of the annual SIEW programme line-up, to reflect the increasingly important role that gas plays in Asia’s growing energy mix.

EMA’s Chief Executive Chee Hong Tat says:  “The global gas markets are experiencing interesting developments. Holding the GAS event at SIEW 2012 will provide policymakers and industry leaders an excellent platform to discuss the different challenges and opportunities in this sector.”

Mark Carr, President of dmg :: event’s Global Energy Division, adds:  “The Gastech team are delighted to bring the Gas Asia Summit to Singapore International Energy Week. Increasing energy demand driven by the rising economic growth in Asia, coupled with technological advances and shifts in the gas supply and demand landscape, is generating enormous opportunities and challenges. GAS will provide a forum for the gas industry to find ways to overcome the challenges and capture the opportunities in this sector.”

GAS will look to attract around 400 executive-level delegates, namely international developers and financiers of key LNG and natural gas projects, banks and utilities. Supporters and participants for GAS include Singapore LNG Corporation, Cheniere, Wood Mackenzie, Fluor, Total, Worley Parsons, Societe Generale, Galway Group, and more.
