Gaz-System completes stage 1 of Gustorzyn-Odolanow gas pipeline

The Wielkopolski Voivode and Kujawsko-Pomorski Voivode issued decisions on the use permit for Stage 1 of the new Gustorzyn-Odolanów gas pipeline.

The completed Gustorzyn-Turek section, which is approx. 83 km long, is the first stage of high-pressure gas pipeline from Gustorzyn to Odolanów, with a total length of 168 km and a diameter of 700 mm. The project is located in the area of Wielkopolskie voivodeship (seventeen municipalities) and Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship (three municipalities) and is broken down to two stages. At present, stage two is being built on the section from Turek to Odolanów, with a length of approx. 85 km. The completion date of the entire project is 2014.

Construction of the Gustorzyn-Odolanów gas pipeline is one of important elements of the national gas transmission system and is directly related to the liquefied natural gas (LNG) re-gasification terminal being built in Świnoujście.

The gas pipeline will allow to transmit greater quantities of gas in central Poland and will improve operational effectiveness of the transmission system.

The Gaz-System S.A. project is based on the Act of 24 April 2009 on investments in the liquefied natural gas re-gasification terminal in Świnoujście.

The value of expenditure related to construction of the gas pipeline is approx. PLN 600m, out of which approx. PLN 223m is an EU subsidy from the Infrastructure and Environment Programme (POIiŚ).

“This is another project which has been recently completed by the company. This June, a use permit was issued for the Świnoujście-Szczecin gas pipeline. The company is now completing investment projects which have never been implemented on such a scale in the history of the gas industry. The new transmission gas pipelines will increase the security of supplies of the natural gas and will be an element of the integrated European transmission system”, said Sławomir Śliwiński, Member of the Management Board of Gaz-System S.A.

In 2014 Gaz-System S.A. will complete construction of a total of 878 km new transmission gas pipelines (among others Szczecin – Gdańsk, Szczecin – Lwówek and Rembelszczyzna – Gustorzyn). The new gas pipelines will support flexible management of gas transmission in Poland, will create new capacity in the system and will support transmission of greater quantities of gas, regardless of the location of import points.
