Gazprom approves small-scale LNG development program

Gazprom approved the development program for 2017-2019 that includes construction of natural gas filling stations and the production and use of small-scale LNG.

The development program for small-scale LNG production and use includes a list of gas distribution stations and liquefaction technologies most suitable for LNG production, the company said in its statement.

The program entails for the construction of new marketing infrastructure, fixed cryogenic filling facilities and mobile LNG filling stations.

With the program, Gazprom is looking to create a large business sector and boost natural gas sale. Currently, the company is working on a number of pilot projects for using LNG in transport.

In addition to small-scale LNG, Gazprom intends to focus on boosting use of natural gas in transport. Currently, natural gas-fueled vehicles take up 26 percent of the  company’s fleet, however, Gazprom is planning to increase the share to 70 percent by the end of 2020.
