Germany: Bremerhaven Auto Terminal Continues Growth

Germany - Bremerhaven Auto Terminal Continues Growth

BLG handled 520,000 vehicles at its Bremerhaven Auto Terminal in the first quarter of this year. Compared to the already strong period in the previous year, this represented a further increase of 7.2 percent.

In 2011 the total cargo handling volume at the terminal came to 2.05 million vehicles. This meant that, after the severe slump in crisis year 2009 and the recovery since spring 2010, Bremerhaven terminal had again attained the record level of the years 2007 and 2008.

This success is essentially attributable to the persistently booming exports to China and the US. In addition, there is now the Russian market with its substantial growth rates in new car registrations as well. After the two major catastrophes Japan, too, is now on a recovery course and again importing more vehicles.
