Germany: Consumers to Share Offshore Wind Cost

In a debate about offshore wind turbines, Consumer advocates warn against a shifting of costs to millions of consumers, writes Dradio.

According to a letter from the Board of Consumer Organizations to the Federal Ministry of Justice, the proposed liability regime for the connection of offshore installations can be viewed with great concern.

Even Consumer Protection Minister Ilse Aigner of the CSU rejected the draft because of unpredictable cost risks.

Since wind turbines initially could not be connected to the power grid, one must overcome the risks, he said in Germany Kultur. This pre-financing will be repaid later.
