Germany: Fred. Olsen to Install Wind Turbines at Riffgat Offshore Wind Farm

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier AS, which is indirectly owned by Bonheur ASA and Ganger Rolf ASA has been awarded a contract by the German utility EWE for the installation of 30 wind turbines and associated equipment at the Riffgat offshore wind farm in the German territorial waters.

The contract commences in March 2013 and is anticipated to take 90 days. The work will be performed using one of the installation vessels “Brave Tern” or “Bold Tern”, both currently under construction at the Lamprell shipyard in Dubai.

The wind farm will be located 15 km northwest of the East Frisian island of Borkum, and will cover area of six square kilometres.

In April 2010, EWE and Siemens signed supply contract for 30 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3.6 megawatts (MW).
