GMS set to clinch liftboat charter in Europe

UAE’s Gulf Marine Services (GMS), a provider of advanced self-propelled self-elevating support vessels has secured a letter of intent for the charter of one of its offshore units

The company on Monday said that under the proposed charter, the company would lease a large class vessel in the oil and gas sector in Europe.

The contract would start in mid-2017 with a duration of 18 months, including options.

GMS did not say who the client was, nor did it say anything on the potential value of the contract. It said that formal legal documentation “is expected to be completed shortly.”

The news of the letter of intent comes a fortnight after GMS said it had lost a contract for a mid-sized liftboat, with the unit expected to go off hire in the early fourth quarter of 2016.
