Goliat FPSO Gets PSA Green Light

Eni Norge has received the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway’s consent to use Goliat FPSO and associated facilities on the Goliat field.

Goliat is around 50 kilometres south-east of the Snøhvit field. Water depth in the area is 360-420 metres.

The field has been developed using a circular FPSO (Sevan 1000), and eight subsea templates with a total of 32 well slots. The well templates are tied back to the FPSO’s integrated storage and offloading system.

The consent is granted on the basis of documentation submitted in connection with the application, and explanations provided during the case processing.

The PSA refers, among other things, to a letter of January 7, 2016 from Eni (Operator) and one of January 8, 2016 from Statoil, partneres in production licence 229.

“We view it as important that the operator and the partner perform their planned activities as described in the letters, and that good employee participation is ensured, whereby comments from the employees are taken on board,” the PSA said in a statement.

The PSA also informed that Eni will provide it with written confirmation that the facility is ready for start-up before it is put into use.
