GoodBulk Rejuvenates Fleet with Capesize Pair

Monaco-based owner and operator of dry bulk vessels GoodBulk continues with fleet modernization efforts as it welcomes into the fleet two Capesize vessels.

The two ships, delivered in January, are 2009-built Aquaproud and 2012-built Aquatonka. The delivery of the duo is part of agreements entered into with funds managed by CarVal Investors in October and December 2017 respectively.

The 178,057 dwt Aquaproud, is expected to be employed in the spot market via the Capesize Revenue Sharing Agreement managed by C Transport Maritime SAM. The 179,004 dwt Aquatonka is on a fixed-rate charter with estimated redelivery in the first quarter of 2018.

On the other hand, GoodBulk  has also sold one of its older Capesizes-the 2003-built Aquabeauty. The bulker was sold to unidentified Greek buyers for USD 15 million and is scheduled to be handed over to its new owner between March and April 2018.

The Aquabeauty was acquired by GoodBulk for USD 10 million and delivered into the company’s fleet on May 5, 2017.

The latest fleet reshuffling will bring GoodBulk’s fleet to 14 Capesize vessels, 1 Panamax vessel, and 2 Supramax vessels on the water, with an additional 7 Capesize vessels expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2018.
