Grimaldi RoRo Catches Fire after Being Hit by Truck in Brazil
A fire broke out onboard roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) ship Grande San Paolo after it was hit by a runaway truck in Brazil on April 9.
The Grimaldi Group-operated vessel was docked at the Port of Santos at the time of the incident.
According to VesselsValue, the truck with no one at the wheel sped away under power and collided with the 214-meter ship.
The fire was successfully extinguished by fire services and the vessel sustained only slight damage.
This is the second incident involving Grimaldi vessels this year. Roll-on/roll-off container (ConRo) ship Grande America sank on March 12 after a fire erupted in one of the containers onboard two days earlier.
World Maritime News has reached out to Grimaldi seeking more info about the incident, however, the company is yet to reply.
