Guangzhou Huangpu Inks $161m Deal with Coscol

One of China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s subsidiaries, CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. and COSCO Shipping Company Limited (Coscol) signed a deal for the construction of four new ships two days ago.

Under the deal, COSCOL will invest around $161 million in the construction of four 36,000 dwt multi-purpose vessels.

The contract signing ceremony was held at the Guangzhou Ocean Plaza on Nov 27th 2013.

CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu, firstly established in 1851, is one of the main fabrication yards for navy vessels, special engineering ships and offshore engineering in Southern China. The company has two production sites: the first Changzhou production area is located on Changzhou Island, in the southeastern part of Guangzhou city. The second, Longxue production area, is located in Longxue Island, Nansha district.
