GWS Secures TWBII Contract

Jan De Nul Group has awarded Global Wind Service (GWS) with the installation and completion scope for the 200MW Trianel Windpark Borkum II (TWBII) offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

Jan De Nul is in charge of installing 32 Senvion 6.2M 152 Power Upgrade offshore wind turbines on the wind farm. The jack-up vessel Vole au vent will transport the turbine parts from Eemshaven in the Netherlands and install them at the site some 45 kilometers north of the island of Borkum.

Installation works are planned to commence at the site in spring 2019 and be completed by autumn 2019.

“We are eager to start the execution of this project with an experienced company as GWS. Their know-how and efforts are precious on this demanding project,” said Arnaud Eeman, Project Manager TWBII at Jan De Nul Group.

GWS will deliver technicians for the installation and mechanical completion of the 32 Senvion 6.2M152 PU turbines, each with a capacity of 6.33MW. The company will deliver two teams in parallel – one team will erect the turbines and the other team will perform the electrical and mechanical completion.

“We are very pleased to be able to use our Senvion offshore installation experience supporting Jan De Nul Group and Senvion on this exciting project. Trianel Borkum II is the first offshore installation project we make together with the Jan De Nul Group, and we look forward to a good partnership with both Jan De Nul Group and Senvion on this project, said Michael Høj Olsen, CCO at Global Wind Service.
