H-Energy to build gas pipeline in West Bengal

India’s Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board said it has received an expression of interest from H-Energy, a Hiranandani Group unit, to lay, build, operate or expand natural gas pipeline from Contai, West Bengal to Dattapulia, Orissa.

The board said in a notice that the public consultation process has commenced and comments may be submitted in the next 30 days.

H-Energy intends to build a 4 mmtpa LNG floating storage and regasification unit off Haldia, West Bengal that is scheduled to commence production in the first quarter of 2019.

The FSRU will be located 115 km off the shore of West Bengal and the gas will be transported via a subsea pipeline to an onshore receiving facility.

H-Energy intends to build, operate or expand natural gas pipeline that would further connect the onshore receiving facility to various demand centers in eastern India where there are currently no gas sources nor pipeline connectivity. The company also said in its submission to the board that it intends to build pipeline infrastructure that would supply natural gas to Bangladesh.
