Hantong Nabs Bulker Duo Deal

Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. (HTS) will see a busy period ahead as it has secured an order for the construction of another bulker duo of 38,800 DWT . The order has been placed by Nisshin Shipping, a repeat customer, and the vessels are slated for delivery in the second half of 2015.

Prompted by a depressed market, Japanese shipowner Nisshin Shipping is pursuing an aggressive fleet expansion plan, within which it had already ordered three 64,000 DWT bulkers from Hantong Ship Heavy Industry in April. The said deal includes two options.

Earlier this month, Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy launched a newbuild 64,000 DWT bulk carrier, built for Load Line Marine SA, the ‘Copenship Eco’.
