Hapag-Lloyd Cruises: Hanseatic Nature’s Launching Ceremony Canceled

German cruise line company Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has canceled the launching ceremony for the first of its three new expedition ships.

The newbuild, Hanseatic Nature, was planned to be launched in Hamburg on April 12, 2019.

However, Vard shipyard, part of the Fincantieri Group, needs more time to finalize the construction of the cruise ship.

For this reason, the maiden voyage from Hamburg to Lisbon and delivery of the vessel will also be delayed, according to Hapag-Lloyd.

The 16,000 gross ton expedition cruise vessel will be 139 meters long and 22 meters wide. The vessel has seven passenger decks, with accommodation for 230 passengers.

The Bahamas-flagged ship will be a German-speaking ship, with all cruises conducted in German only.

Its two sister ships — Hanseatic Inspiration and Hanseatic Spirit — are scheduled to join the company’s fleet in October 2019 and in 2021, respectively.
