The contract, awarded to Barakah Offshore’s wholly-owned subsidiary PBJV, is for the provision of Pan Malaysia Maintenance, Construction and Modification contract for years 2018-2023.

Barakah said on Thursday that the scope of the contract will generally include maintenance, construction and modification work for structures and facilities for the client’s oil and gas fields offshore Peninsular Malaysia.

The total value of the contract is not fixed and will depend on the actual scope agreed in work orders to be issued by Hess from time to time throughout the duration of the contract. The contract duration is for five years effective from July 17, 2018.

In Malaysia, Hess operates the North Malay Basin – Integrated Gas Development project, located 186 miles offshore Peninsular Malaysia, under a Production Sharing Contract with Petronas. The field was discovered in 1979 and began production in 2013. North Malay Basin full field development achieved first production of natural gas in 2018. Production for 2017 was 13,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
