HHIC scores LPG order

HANJIN Heavy Industries & Construction (HHIC) said it signed an agreement to build two LPG/ammonia carriers (38,000 cbm) with a Southeast Asian ship owner.

The vessels will have 180m in length, 29m in width, and 18m in height. They will be equipped with G-type engine.

Thanks to this successful bid, HHIC’s Yeongdo Shipyard was able to diversify vessel lines, which has been promoted to enhance its competitiveness. It appears that the company has gained a footing to win the bid for similar vessels such as LNG carriers, it said in a statement.

Last year, HHIC won the bid to build LNG bunker vessels for the first time in the world.

According to the statement, HHIC’s Yeongdo Shipyard has booked enough advance orders for three years of production until the first half of 2017.
