OneSubsea Invests in New R&D Project

OneSubsea is to invest £1.8 million in a new project for the development of its Standardised Modular Injection System (SMIS).

The project, which will create five new jobs and safeguard a further 35, is being supported with a £434,126 R&D grant from Scottish Enterprise. It will be delivered from the company’s Aberdeen site.

NERC (Natural Environment Research Council) has launched a campaign for public to name its new GBP 200 million polar research ship.

The new research vessel is being built at Cammell Laird, and it is set to sail in 2019. The most popular name chosen by the public has been RRS Boaty McBoatface.

Oceaneering has appointed William (Bill) J. Boyle as senior vice president, Asset Integrity.

In this role, Boyle will be responsible for Oceaneering’s Asset Integrity business worldwide.Prior to joining Oceaneering, Boyle held senior leadership positions at several companies in the oilfield services and other related industries.

 


Woodside Shelves Browse FLNG Development

Following completion of front-end engineering and design (FEED) work, the Browse Joint Venture participants have decided not to progress further with the floating LNG development concept.

Prior to the FEED work, the Browse Joint Venture selected Shell’s FLNG technology in conjunction with a subsea development as the preferred development concept for the Browse resources.


NOV Develops Subsea BOP Failure Prediction Solution

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) has reportedly developed and validated a predictive solution that can foresee operational failures in subsea blowout preventer (BOP) components.

This new predictive capability is expected to provide real-time visibility into product health and performance within a prediction horizon of approximately 14 days, the company explained.
