HMD Delivers ‘STI Opera’ to Scorpio

Scorpio Tankers Inc. has taken delivery of a medium range (MR) newbuilding, STI Opera, from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., Ltd. of South Korea.

STI Opera is an ABS classed double hull Chemical/Oil Carrier with the length of 130m and breadth of 30m. Currently sailing under the flag of Marshall Islands, she will be time chartered-out for up to 120 days at approximately $19,000 per day.

At the moment, Scorpio Tankers has 63 newbuildings on order (30 MR, 12 LR2, as well as 14 Handymax ice class-1A product tankers and seven VLCCs). 43 vessels are slated for delivery in 2014, 16 ships in 2015 while four will be handed over in 2016.
