Höegh Autoliners Boosts Its Presence in America

Norwegian shipping company Höegh Autoliners has completed the transaction making it the owner of the ocean service operated by SC Line in the Caribbean, a 50 percent owner in Fast Terminal International and sole owner of Fast Terminal International’s RoRo terminal in Port Everglades, Florida, USA.

The transaction closes the deal announced under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed in January this year with the Sola family, owners of SC Line and Fast Terminal International.

The ownership in Fast Terminal International that operates ocean and inland terminals in Columbia and the Port Everglades terminal is to be managed through Höegh Autoliners’ terminal operating arm, Horizon Terminal Services.

Höegh Autoliners said it would incorporate its current regional shortsea operation with the short sea services provided by SC Lines in the Caribbean and American markets via a hub in Kingston, Jamaica.

The services, to be marketed as Höegh Autoliners Shortsea Americas, will connect with Höegh’s deep sea network to and from the region, “creating a global reach”, as explained by the company.

In January this year, the two 4,200 CEU capacity PCTCs Höegh Masan (1998) and Höegh Inchon (1997) were positioned in the region.
