Japan’s Hokkaido Gas said it had signed a basic agreement on Friday to purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Mitsui & Co.

Hokkaido Gas said in a statement it would buy two to three LNG cargoes with a capacity ranging from 130,000 tonnes to 200,000 tonnes for a period of 10 years starting from April 2019.

The city gas supplier will receive the chilled fuel at the Ishikari LNG import terminal on Hokkaido, where Hokkaido Gas recently completed its second LNG storage tank.

Hokkaido Gas did not specify any particular project from which the LNG would be supplied saying that the contracted supplies would come from various projects Mitsui & Co is involved in.
