Navarre Beach dredging project is given 10-day extension

PENSACOLA, Fla. – One year after Hurricane Dennis hit Navarre Beach, a project to fortify the beach against future storms resumed Monday after work was temporarily halted because of sea turtle deaths from the sand dredging equipment.

“This is a big break for us, it’s a one-year anniversary present, said Michael Martino, a beach store owner who rebuilt his home after Hurricane Ivan washed it away in 2004 and then lost the rebuilt home to Dennis last year.
