Canal dredging tops council topics

The water running into Rose Bay should get even cleaner as the City Council discusses dredging another phase of a 2-mile-long feeder canal.

Engineers are suggesting the city spend $1.2 million in grants and city funds to dredge silt from the canal that runs from First Baptist Church of Harbor Oaks on U.S. 1 to Rose Bay. The water will then be rerouted to a 1.5-acre retention pond, where it will be treated before it flows into the bay.
