Feasibility study for Valemon field

StatoilHydro has awarded Alliance Engineering a concept feasibility study for a new fixed jacket platform and topsides production facilities for its Valemon field.

Valemon, located in about 135 meters (440 feet) of water in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, is seen as a key part of StatoilHydro’s future production.

Other fields include the Gudrun, Trestakk, Astero, Peon, Luva, Lavrans and Dagny fields.

In all, enhanced field discovery techniques as well as the new field projects are expected to add 600,000 barrels a day to StatoilHydro’s production from the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) by 2015.

Alliance said today that the concept work would facilitate early drilling with a jack- up cantilevered drilling rig and later life installation of gas compression facilities.

The company added that its focus would be on reducing weight and improving the project economics.

Alliance is a subsidiary of international energy services group John Wood Group PLC.
