Aker Solutions wins contract from StatoilHydro

Aker Solutions has been awarded a contract from StatoilHydro for a feed study for a subsea gas compression project for Asgard and Mikkel fields.

AkerSolutions communications manager subsea Endre Johansen said he could not discuss the financial value of the contract.

“The financial value is not great. Its more the technology that is interesting,” he told Offshore247.

“We will be investigating the viability of doing the project,” he added.

He said the company would be making a formal statement about the contract later in the day.

The Åsgard field lies on the Halten Bank in the Norwegian Sea, about 200 kilometres off mid-Norway and 50 kilometres south of Heidrun.

StatoilHydro says that viewed overall, Asgard ranks among the largest developments on the Norwegian continental shelf.

The world’s largest set of subsea production installations has been placed on the field, embracing a total of 52 wells drilled through 16 seabed templates.
