US oil facility damaged off Vietnam

The US oil corp. ENSCO said Monday a jackup rig was damaged while preloading offshore Vietnam and may be out of service for 60 days. No employees were injured and there was no environmental damage, the company added. Preliminary inspection indicates relatively minor damage to the rig, which has been safely jacked down and is currently under tow to Vung Tau sea. The Dallas-based company says repair costs above a $5.5 million deductible will be covered by insurance. It is expected that the rig will move to the Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore for repairs.
