Stimulus boost for Portland

The port of Portland has announced that an investment of US$16.3m in federal stimulus grants will help to enhance its marine and aviation facilities. The port authority said the investment would help to create over 300 construction-related jobs and ensure the long-term effectiveness and efficiency of the cargo and passenger facilities. The largest grant of $8.9m will go towards crane and wharf modernisation at Terminal 6, the only international marine container port in Oregon.
