China celebrates “blue territory” on Maritime Day

The Chinese government marked its second Maritime Day in Shanghai Tuesday to enhance public awareness of the nation’s over three million square kilometers of “blue territory”.

Vice Premier Huang Ju sent a letter to the ceremony, urging further development of the nation’s ocean shipping, maritime exploitation and shipbuilding industries.

Maritime Day is important to encourage the nation to care more about the ocean and its “blue territory”, Huang said.
