Success for Seatec, rise in visitors and exhibitors

12.000 visitors, + 7% for the seventh International exhibition for technology, subcontracting and design for boats, yachts and ships.

The results for Seatec 2009 are all “on the up”. Visitor numbers rose once again, 12,000, showing an increase of +7% on 2008: an expected success however in view of the fact that the exhibition held at CarraraFiere from 5 to 7 February hosted 960 exhibitors (+11% compared to 2008) over an area of 34.000 square metres.

In the area “Abitare il Mare” alone there were 140 exhibitors showing how the exhibition has become a necessary event for those operating in the top end of the market. Record too for foreign exhibitors that totalled 320, from 31 countries, showing the International importance of the event.

“In such a difficult economic climate, the fact that we were able to achieve these results is extremely satisfying. The importance of Seatec internationally is very obvious – commented Giorgio Bianchini, chairman of CarraraFiere – and we have seen the results over the past three days of the exhibition which has been visited by leading representatives from the marine world. The presence of Minister Ronchi emphasized the importance of our exhibition that is the only exhibition of its kind open to the trade in Italy. We have already begun work on next year’s exhibition. We shall be building on the already extensive range of goods and the calendar of high profile conferences organised or hosted as well as the overall image of the exhibition which is really unique in terms of its professional visitors, the level of the technical conferences and seminars and the importance of the competitions which are open to the marine world and aim to promote projects, design and creative flair and the contribution of universities, research centres and associations. “.

Alongside the exhibition itself, Seatec continues to present a calendar of conferences and competitions. This year there were 5 competitions: the sixth MYDA – Millennium Yacht Design Award, the fifteenth Targa Rodolfo Bonetto, the third Abitare la Barca, the sixth Qualitec Technology Award and a newcomer, the Qualitec Design Award, open to exhibiting companies producing accessories or furnishings to promote the most representative products from their serial production with one thing in common: technological innovation in all its forms.

So full sail ahead and see you at the eighth Seatec to be held from Wednesday 10 to Friday 12 February 2010.
