New London shipyard faces $600,000 in fines

State environmental regulators are proposing more than $600,000 in fines against a New London shipyard accused of polluting the Thames River and violating other laws.

The Department of Environmental Protection alleges that the Thames Shipyard & Repair Co. violated environmental laws more than two dozen times from 1985 to 1998.
