British experts arriving to salvage sunken tanker

To fasttrack the containment operations of the oil spill here, a group of British experts will be arriving Thursday. Their mission is to first conduct an underwater survey in the area where the m/t Solar I sank and, if they can reached the depth where it now lies, puncture and salvage the vessel as soon as possible.

The procedure will either be done in a “robotic” or a manual manner.

Tito Concio, president of the Sunshine Maritime Development Corporation (SMDC), which owns the ill-fated tanker, made the announcement in a press conference Thursday.
