Clipper 05-06: Catch Up Time

The fleet is starting to feel the effects of the high pressure ridge coming south west from Ireland, with quite patchy runs across the board. The weather chart (courtesy of the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Centre) shows the ridge almost on top of the fleet position. Just to the south a weak low pressure is forming, and over the next 24 hours this should give reasonable breezes, allowing them to maintain progress towards the Channel. The winds will not be consistent for a day or so, however, and this will make for painful losses and exhilarating gains, as is already happening.
