Huisman, the specialist in lifting, drilling, and subsea solutions, has completed the installation of 650mt Pipelay Tower onboard DOF’s Skandi Africa.

Earlier this month, the company also installed the crane house of the 900mt Crane onboard the vessel.

All the equipment installation work is being done at the Huisman Schiedam facility, where the vessel arrived in March, 2015.

The work includes installation of 650mt Pipelay Tower, a 150mt Knuckleboom Crane and a 900mt Pedestal Mounted Crane.

In February 2014, Technip chartered the construction vessel on a long-term basis from DOF Subsea, for delivery in 2015.

The Skandi Africa is DP class 3 construction support vessel, designed for harsh environment and deepwater subsea construction and flexlay operations, up to 3,000 m depth.

The 160.9 meters long, VARD OSCV-design vessel, has a 2.700 m2 deck area, under-deck storage capacity of 3,500 Te and two work-class ROVs rated for 4,000 m water depth.

The vessel has a deadweight of 16.000 t  and it can accommodate 140 people.
