The news was reported earlier today by Tap Oil, an Australia-based oil and gas company which owns a share in the G1/48 licence in the Northern Gulf of Thailand where the well is located.

Tap said that during the period from 0600 hours WST on 18 November 2013 to 0600 hours WST on 25 November 2013, the well drilled to a final total depth of 3,111 metres measured depth. Data acquired while drilling (mudlog and Logging While Drilling) indicates the presence of hydrocarbons in the primary target. Wireline logging has commenced to obtain further data to evaluate the well.

“The forward plan is to continue wireline logging operations. A statement will be made on the status of the well once logging operations and the interpretation of the well data is finalised,” Tap Oil said in a press release.
