Hyperdynamics promotes VP of commercial development to CFO role

Hyperdynamics Corporation, an oil and gas operator focused on developing its asset offshore Guinea, has promoted Sergey Alexeev to the role of senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO).

Hyperdynamics said on Wednesday that, in this role, Alexeev would oversee all financial, accounting, and commercial aspects of the company’s activities.

Alexeev joined the company in September 2016 as the vice president of commercial development on a consulting basis.

Ray Leonard, president and CEO of Hyperdynamics, said: “I’m very pleased to name Sergey to an expanded role as CFO. Since he joined us about seven months ago, he has done an outstanding job of identifying and negotiating with prospective partners in our Guinea project and investors in our company.

“As we make our final preparations to drill an exploration well this spring offshore the Republic of Guinea, he will play an increasingly important role in the overall financial and business development activities of the company.”

Before joining Hyperdynamics last year, Alexeev was the COO for Soyuzneftegaz, a Russian oil and gas company and earlier was the CFO and First VP for Rosneft, Russia’s largest oil and gas producer, in charge of economics, finance, and business development.

He also held executive positions with ABN AMRO Bank and Coopers & Lybrand, both in Moscow.
