Hyundai Heavy Cuts Steel for KSS Line’s VLGC

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries has organised a steel cutting ceremony for a Very Large Gas Carrier ordered by compatriot LPG and chemical shipping company KSS Line.

The 84,000 cbm LPG carrier is due for delivery in 2016, and is assigned on a seven-year-plus time-charter with Japanese trader Itochu.

Back in February, KSS Line signed a financing deal with Korea Development Bank for the construction of this VLGC.

KSS Line has two more 38,000 cbm LPG/ammonia carriers under construction at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, scheduled for delivery in 2017.

With these three newbuilds, KSS Line will own and operate a fleet of 15 gas carriers, 6 chemical, and 4 LNG carriers.
